pnital 36 Posted December 3, 2007 Reflections vs. reality always fascinate me, what do you think? Link to comment
LindaM 2 Posted December 3, 2007 exceptional! this really does ask the question of reality. for me it has some of that same wonderful quality as your image of people watching dancers through peep holes Link to comment
adan1 0 Posted December 3, 2007 Great capture Pnina. The design on the lamps, dress and scarf are attention grabbers. To me this is a great study on human nature. Sometimes we do not like reality and go through some lengths to modify it. In this case it is obvious that the lady is not too satisfied with the way she looks so she fixes herself up. Donna Stavis 0 Posted December 4, 2007 Interesting perspective and musing of voyeuristic intrusions to privacy. The empty chair with magazine seems to suggest a ruse of an empty storefront, which turns out not to be empty. The colorful dress, flamboyant scarf, and carefree "pose" suggest a woman who, in her mind, is still seeing a young woman primping, not noticing she is middle aged (though she is still quite lovely). Of course, the bright sunlight on her arm, hand, and dress tell very clearly who stands where. Lovely, lovely shot, Pnina. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted December 4, 2007 What I see here is design complementing expression. I find her casual dress and scarf to go well with her casual attention to herself reflected in the glass. You have caught a very genuine moment. The design on the lamp shades is in great harmony with the other elements. Very nicely composed and well seen. As we've discussed before, I don't see a reflection as something that vs. reality as much as something that is an interesting visual aspect of reality. If anything, I see this whole scene as very natural and real. Link to comment
AJHingel 127 Posted December 4, 2007 Very good reflection scene with the person actively participating. The left part of the photo could stand alone already offering her a chair, but the right side breaks the heavy loading of details of the other. The balance is there. Well done. Link to comment
amalsircar 2 Posted December 4, 2007 "Reflected Reality" is a poetic and apt caption for this image. It is one of your many excellent shots in recent times. The reflection of the lady in that pose infuses life to still life. Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted December 4, 2007 Xiang, for your visit and comment. Linda, nice of you comparing it with the peep show... ;-)) but this woman is a friend.... Adan and Donna, nice interpretation that I think has a touch to all of us. Fred, I agree with you about the reflection of reality, but I think that it is a different kind of reality because it " creates" a new visual sight from both realities. Anders, thanks for the ballance, I thought as well that the bright side ballance the darker one. Joe and Amal, I appreciate your interpretation. Amal, nice of you, always supportive. Link to comment
bosshogg 4 Posted December 4, 2007 Lots of interesting elements here. The woman primping is the same act as the window set that is there to be attractive. The lamp shades compliment the woman's dress. There is an ethereal nature to the whole image, as if a puff of wind could come along and take it away. Link to comment
rogerleekam 0 Posted December 4, 2007 Back to reflections and this is a great one, Pnina. I love the story here, a common experience for all of us rarely documented. The details in the interior background are superb. Great work! Link to comment
cherlyn 1 Posted December 4, 2007 Very coomonly seen, people using the glass panes as mirror but many would have just walk past, instead you take up your camera for a snap. She fits in well with all the display within. Link to comment
paula grenside 0 Posted December 4, 2007 Another lovely addition to the window shopping series, Pnina. Now, who and what is outside and inside? Link to comment
jeffl7 0 Posted December 5, 2007 I agree with David regarding the transience of the scene. A moment later, and this magic, mini-drama would cease to be. I see a real balance in the visual elements here. The floral dress and lampshades, her tall almost-squared off stance against the lamps also stretching high, her curved arm next to the curved arm of the chair--all so well balanced. Link to comment
bradkim 8 Posted December 5, 2007 I am also fascinated by reflections vs. reality.... It is an interesting subject to pursue...! I like this image with its fine composition. Link to comment
petemillis 0 Posted December 6, 2007 Pnina, this is good too - I like the way it is hard to tell which side of the glass the woman and the chairs are. Can the woman sit on either of the chairs, or is the glass between them? Great capture. Link to comment
davidorea 0 Posted December 7, 2007 Excellent reflections scene, Pnina. Nice composition and atmosphere. Congrats! Link to comment

j_m_lee_photography 0 Posted December 8, 2007 Pnina, The images are as diverse as the people behind the lens. Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted December 8, 2007 To all of you, interesting comments and feedback! Pete the woman was standing near me.... a glass was separating us and the inside, so the chair on the R is as it was presented behind the glass. the L side the chairs( behind the woman) and lamps is the real inside, the woman is a reflection.. so the in and out are connected.
