This was taken in late 1968 while I was living in Virginia and at School. I had just purchased this 1969 Mustang GT with a 390 ci with 320 hp. I paid, from what I remember, $2700. The mach 1 was about $2000 more.

Photo was taken with a Polaroid camera, I just scanned it for archiving and though I would share. Thoughts for retouching?

What a handsome young man, gosh those were the days. At about the same time I bought my first car a GTO, for around the same price. My god, where have all the years gone.............roger

A friend had a GTO, much better for he and I with our g/friends. His was a convertible and was an excellent beach/date party mobile. Mine, well it's a chariot for 2 (hard to do anything in the back seat).

This has aged well. I've always been a fan of the late Mark Donohue and this has a bit of similar ambience as many of the photos of his Mustang-era. The story behind the photo makes me think how different worlds can be. If I think someone here could purchase a Modern Mustang while at school... You must've scored well with the Mus.

I love old photos like this. Thanks for sharing it. $2700... geez. My first car ('64 Galaxie) also had a 390. And the front seat was so large, there was no need to climb over. Just had to watch out for the horn ring. LOL.
