Hi Linda,

Not hard to see what caught your eye on this one, the nice reflections framed in between the foreground trees and those great beams of light radiating in diagonally from the top left. Well seen. I felt that the colors were a little overdone possibly, in particular the greens in the reflections. The bland sky in the top right was also a detraction. I hope you don`t mind but I took the liberty of downloading and cropping it to see what you thought.

regards,

jim

I agree completely! I love the colors ... love the rays of light from the left. But the top right distracts me. You would need to experiment with crops, as when I hold a paper up to cover the whole top or the whole right, it just doesn't look quite right. Did you take other images in this shoot? I like that you included the trees, but I wonder if moving the camera to the left, or using a different focal length would give you the same effects and a nice composition without including that blown out spot.....

Jim,

thank you so much, I appreciate it. A second pair of eyes is always helpful to me. Sometimes I miss the obvious. You are absolutly right about that sky. Your version is an improvement. I wish I'd seen it myself.

I did increase the colour saturation, maybe I overdid it. This beautiful little lake really is a gorgeous turquoise green. When the sun hits it the right way it is so colourful I feel giddy. I can't drive past it without taking a few shots. I grew up in the east where the lakes were a steely, grey, blue. When I came out west and saw the amazing turquoise lakes I was amazed, 30 years later I still haven't gotten over it.

Lou Ann, thank you!

As I said to Jim, I completly agree with both of you about the sky and wish I'd seen it myself. I like your idea of pasting in a different sky too. That could have been done so easily.

I have taken many pictures here. I have taken quite of few just of the water, because the colour is so gorgeous. I will try your suggestions next time I am out that way.

Warm regards,

Linda

To crop or not to crop. Since it's been discussed, I'll just agree that this is a thrilling scene with those sunbeams settling down onto the water. I love the colors. I think you do such a nice job managing your color palette--always. It must be your training. However, inspiration can't really be taught, it can just be harnessed. Nice work.

Thank you! You have such a lovely way of putting things.

I don't think inspiration can be taught either. I do wonder where it comes from? I heard or read somewhere that inspiration comes from being "in spirit", a nice thought. I think the creative process, in it's many forms, is facinating.

Warm Regards,

Linda

It's a lovely picture. just a pity that the hill does not cover it all.But I enjoy the way you took us to the location of the photo to feel like we did when the shot was taken. Shalom :0))

Thanks for looking and commenting. I appreciate you taking the time.

Spencer, I did some Photoshop work and added some sky to the washed out top right corner. It really is an improvement. I don't think I will re-post it though.

Warm regards,

Linda
