WJT 619 Posted November 29, 2007 Good photograph, Mark! I like the surrounding leaves being used to frame the subject. The Velvia color is always splendid, perhaps a bit on the magenta side in this case. Was this the new (reintroduced) RVP50 or was it from older stock? Regards. Link to comment
lonebearimages 0 Posted November 29, 2007 Geez, Mark, you sure do put yourself in some terrific spots with your camera; and this is no exception! This really needs to be seen larger too! I love the natural framing of the branches and leaves (a vignette of leaves), really pushes the eye across the water to the color and the sky. I'll bet this looks stunning as a print. I surmise the PN compression has darkened it a touch. Very good work, Amigo! Cheers! Chris Link to comment
whydangle 0 Posted November 29, 2007 Thanks Walter and Chris. The magenta I suspect is slightly more because something always gets lost in translation from my application all the way to Photo.net servers. It is, however, pretty darn close to my recollection of the scene. I pumped some green back in to offset the strong color cast. This is an older version of velvia. The surrounding trees and branches are purposely darker as to not pull attention away from the scene. We see alot of strong photos on PN that have detail in all the areas, somewhat the HDR effect. but I feel that this results in images that lack contrast and I have always felt that good contrast is an integral part of successful landscape photos. THX for your comments. Link to comment

jim_barber4 0 Posted May 6, 2008 This image is so introspective and serene, it should be required viewing to the entire criminal element in this world (politicians included), surely the hatred and violence would be lessened. Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful. Link to comment
