teru 0 Posted November 29, 2007 My first attempt at bird photography. I had to push my camera to ISO1600 to get fast enough shutter speeds to capture this shot. It's a bit noisy, but I'm pretty happy that I got the results that I did using the least expensive Nikon telephoto lens on the market (AF 70-300mm f/4-5.6G). Anyways, I like the way the yellow and black leaves in the background complement the colors of the bird, but is the background ultimately distracting or not? Link to comment
tonybrown 0 Posted November 29, 2007 For a first bird shot this is great. The focus on the head and eye are nice and sharp and the bright colours offset the disadvantages you noted in the background. I like the way you have him peeking our from behind the tree, gives him some context. Congratulations, Tony Link to comment

j_m_lee_photography 0 Posted November 29, 2007 Teru, It's definitely a great shot. I like the tree that form a natural framing and that lovely colorful background that compliment the color of the bird. Congrats!! Link to comment
Not Here 93 Posted November 29, 2007 Looks great to me, interesting pose, colors are sharp, focus is right on and the background is interestingly there, but doesn't intrude. Good shot! Link to comment
teru 0 Posted November 30, 2007 ...for the encouraging comments. It's nice to know I'm on the right path...although to be fair, you guys haven't seen all the rejected photos from this session :) Link to comment
margaret1 0 Posted December 3, 2007 But we all know the rejected photos!! There are plenty more rejects than good ones for us all. :0) Link to comment
