deb1 0 Posted November 27, 2007 Here I am still trying to understand and manage light. Once again, I'm the only one willing to put up with my endless desire to master it's endless mysteries. Please advise what you see right and wrong with my efforts. Many thanks, deb Link to comment
doug_gentry 0 Posted November 27, 2007 ahh....Debra, The selfportrait. One of the most challenging aspects of photography! (IMHO) It's that glimpse of a hidden side or personality that we try to capture when photographing someone. When you try to "capture" your self , I think you "put yourself out there". And we are our own worst critic. I like your work and I admire your drive for this series. Keep shooting, In reference to the photo above, your lighting is good. The composition is close to the target but I think it misses something. Ask yourself, (grinning) what are your trying to capture? A feeling? A mood? A moment in time of yourself? Do all the elements contribute to the overall image? I hope to see more of your "self expressions" Warmest Regards, Doug Link to comment
shadow-island 0 Posted November 27, 2007 I think you are understanding light and composition very well. This is a nicely done portrait. I envision you setting everything up, scurring around to gain that pose...wow...what a model. As the previous comment states, I think now its a matter of the pose/mood you want from the shot. Part of that will come from what the client wants and what your imagination will allow. It appears that you have the stage set and now comes the plan. We all keep learning and sometimes on the fly. That said, It appears you are ready for the model to arrive. Best wishes and thanks for your kind comments. Michael Link to comment
