shots worth sharing 1 Posted November 23, 2007 I'd really like to get honest reactions to this experimental image. Link to comment
vedran2 0 Posted November 23, 2007 I think it is not bad; it looks like a dream or a memory. If it had just these branches on the right side sharpened it would be better. Link to comment
gilbert 0 Posted November 23, 2007 In the sky, the grain looks fine, but in the dark parts it's a little disturbing to me. The composition is nice, I like the flying elements, whatever it is. I think I'd prefer an increase of the contrast, especially darkening the dark elements! Link to comment
shots worth sharing 1 Posted November 23, 2007 Thanks so much for taking a look! We had a cold front move through yesterday afternoon with strong winds (but negligible rain) and the air was filled with leaves and I decided to take some shots. The results were kind of blurry because everything was in motion (if I had had my wits about me, I'd have taken the CP filter off and boosted the ISO) but this one struck me as having some possibilities in terms of capturing the essence of the event. I was pleased to discover how much texture I could coax out of the trees but I agree more would be better. I did, of course, sharpen heavily to compensate for the blurriness (hence the grain) but may have gotten carried away. I'll probably put it away for now as something to re-work in my winter hibernation. It just occurred to me: can you tell which way the wind is blowing? Link to comment
Jack McRitchie 150 Posted December 1, 2007 Well said in your remarks, "...the essence of the event". That's what photography is all about, when you see the possibilities inherent in a particular moment. Link to comment
shots worth sharing 1 Posted December 1, 2007 Thanks, Jack. I'll admit to being a better "wordsmith" than photographer. For one thing, I've had a lot more experience with words. I guess it's true that we're chasing essences (of moments, things, places, people and ideas) with our cameras. Link to comment
