I'm not too good with dodging and burning, but I tried dodging the "Mother" on the first headstone. Not enough? Or try a different method? Do you like the color ... or should I have done this in B&W? Any other thoughts?

I keep coming back to this image because I can't imagine why in the world there aren't names on these two headstones. They're not in a family area or near enough other graves that it would be assumed that they are the parents of children who were all killed as a family or anything. I mean, the Titanic sank in 1912 ... but how would two unidentified bodies from the Titanic end up in Eden, NY? Strange....

I duplicated the image layer and changed the top layer to "screen" blend mode. Then I created a layer mask to "hide all". I used a small brush at 25% opacity to gradually lighten "MOTHER". Don't know if this works for you.

Keep the color, I don't think b&w would work very well here because of the darkness of the overall image. Richard's adjustment is good!

I have it a little like you. When walking in a cemetery or a churchyard there are so many storys you will never get to know but makes you wonder: who were they, what life did they have, what stories could they tell. In a Danish churchyard I once noticed 4 stones in a line with the exactly same white dows on each of them. They were sisters all dying very young over a very few years. What a tragedy it might have been ... but we don't know how there lifes were and from what they died ... just like here.

Keep the colors. A very nice picture Lou Ann.

Lou Ann, Of your current 3 posts I like this one best, mainly for it's esthetics. Your bulldozer is cropped way too tight and your Pike's Peak shot was taken in non-dramatic flat (over-the-shoulder-mid-day) lighting. With all due respect to Guy, I think the space around the headstones is fine & the areas in the foreground and background are in desirable proportions. In short, a keeper. Best, LM.

LTNS :) What about making this B&W? I think the color, while nice, may be distracting from your subjects. Hope you don't mind, I couldn't resist playing. My take :)
