I had to produce a poster for a flute student for her final recital. Here's what I came up with.

Not sure what category to post in.

Very nice poster,

I love the picture and the composition of the poster. I might have done it without the locket. It gives away how extreme the movement really is, and from some distance the chain looks like a scar or something and the locket it self looks like a fly or something that should not be in the image.

Further, I would retain the large font only for the actual event and use a smaller font for featured artists and the music played. This would allow for more completely describing the featured pieces, something that it is normal to do, and that is interesting for the prospective audience.

Yours,

Michael

Extremely well done. She must have been so pleased!

Michael's suggestions are correct and would simply take this already superb layout to an even higher degree of excellence.

Good observation. I saw it also - and I asked if she could remove - and she said she never took it off (it must be imporant - I didn't pry) - so I left in.

I had her jumping and spinning into the camera while playing the flute (or pretending) - to loosen things up in the shoot. There are three more posters in my homework folder. (and a joking magazine cover I made for a homework assignment in a class I am taking).

I'll play around with the suggestions on fonts etc. I had never done a poster before like this. I tried dropping the font size down for the minor stuff - but it wasn't working for me... I will play some more. The school gave me an EPS of their logo and I used the color scheme (sampled with eye dropper) to set the color scheme of the text - it pulled things together much more nicely than the plain black type I had.
