iancoxleigh 0 Posted November 17, 2007 I went and had a look at the other shot as well. I quite like it too. It is a very nice spring image. Classic in a way and undeniably beautiful. One certainly gets a sense of the warm brightness of spring and other hopefulness of the season. It is just a little bit over-done/unoriginal -- I've seen that scene once too often (7/5). Now, moving to this image, the increased black really brings out the detail in the OOF background areas. On the one hand this makes the image slightly less 'focussed' on the tulip and one could call it distracting. But, I personally prefer the greater depth and detail within the image. The vignette is also quite nice and I feel more pushed back into the scene rather than merely glancing across it. On the whole, this seems like a less 'predictable' spring image. However, as I said, I now feel a little bit distracted from the in-focus flower as the subject of the image. I might suggest a burning of the background flowers in Photoshop -- a light burning (see attached for an idea -- hmm I might have gone too far. But, it should help you get what I'm saying anyways).
