In B&W, the surface beneath the leaf (wood?) is close, blurred and to me a bit distracting. So forgive me for messing with your lovely study, but I did. I found that the addition of color to the leaf, slight sharpening and lightening of the background enhance the DOF and make your wonderful composition easier on the eyes. Food for thought and discussion attached. No wrong or right - strictly a subjective point of view here. Cheers -
