Purple Cattleya Orchid

An 8 second exposure with barely any light left in the day. This

orchid has bloomed before but never this brilliantly. Apparently it

liked being under the lime tree. I have been shooting this orchid for

several days at different times and exposures and I can't seem to get

it right although this is my best so far. Suggestions please.

Hello Richard. This Cattleya is a beauty and your color capture is very nice. I have found composition difficult when shooting Catts - the pseudobulbs and stiff green leaves always seem to be in the way. SO, I cut the flowers from the plant and THEN photograph them. Low light is nice for the VERY pink flowers but then you lose the crisp edges on the frill of the lip. Regards.
