j_m_lee_photography 0 Posted November 12, 2007 Normally structure like this(without the cross)in Singapore, are more likely to be a Muslim Mosque. This is beautiful. Shalom my dear friend. Link to comment
cherlyn 1 Posted November 12, 2007 Can see why it's called the Onion church. Agree with Spencer the structure looks like a mosque without the cross. It look prominent agaisnt the rugged terrain. Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted November 12, 2007 Ivana, Spencer and Cherlyn. Spencer and Cherlyn, I don't know how a mosque is built in Singapore,it was probabaly influenced by your culture ,but here it looks very different than this one. I upload a mosque tower here in Jaffa ( near Tel Aviv) so you can see the difference. Link to comment

aepelbacher 0 Posted November 12, 2007 I really like how the gold looks against the colors in the hillside in the background. Well seen! Link to comment
AJHingel 127 Posted November 12, 2007 First of all Pnina, this photo is very classical but beautifully made. The composition is very carefully thought out with the main onion tower having the darkest background on the hillside behind. Let me add my contribution to the onion towers. These Russian orthodox onion towered churches are as traditional as can be. These are the ones you see all over Russia since many centuries. Some historians believe d that they were actually 'imported" from Muslim cultures, others that there origin is much older. You find similar onion towers in Iran and India. Link to comment

adan1 0 Posted November 12, 2007 The "onion" domes really stand out in this landscape. Very nice composition. I agree with your image of a mosque. Usually I associate them with a balcony for a call to prayer. Link to comment
amalsircar 2 Posted November 13, 2007 Very good composition and exposure,Pnina. These domes or golden cupolas are also seen in Kremlin and other parts of the world. These are typically Russian.See the attachment. Link to comment

rogerleekam 0 Posted November 13, 2007 Very good landscape composition, Pnina. I particularly like the contrast between the onion domes and the rest of the image, especially the trees. Link to comment
gordonjb 10,860 Posted November 14, 2007 Something about the light here gives this image a wonderful feeling of softness, not in the sense of focus but more as if it were painted. The softness and lack of discernable shadows makes this a very unique take on photographing architecture. A lovely church as well, and it looks very Russian to me. Link to comment
paula grenside 0 Posted November 14, 2007 Very well composed, Pnina, and the golden onions are beautifully framed. Very interesting architecture. Link to comment

Jack McRitchie 150 Posted November 16, 2007 I looks like you're creating your very own fairytale with the golden domes and the almost monochromatic background. It's a quite magical affect. Link to comment
