birds in flight Wisconsin Cranes

My last critique request for awhile.I will be adding images to my

gallery, some are new some old,I will be in India for part of this

month working on tiger conservation project.There is an article

coming out on my work in Dec issue of popular photography, has to do

with conservation, something we all need to be practising these days,

no doubt that will get the 3/3 voters going.

Even being this is not in sharp focus....I still like the softness of it. Nice capture!

I really enjoy the composition of this image. The brown grasses and the flight of the birds with the winter trees in the background. Hurry back so that we can enjoy more images - you will be missed during your trip. Dag! I didn't even know they HAVE cranes in Wisconsin! And lovely ones too, I see. Nice shot Birte. These had to be a lot easier to shoot than those little tiny ducks I just put up. Write if you can.

I love the effect of the composition and exposure. It's almost like a painting. May I ask how you managed to pull this off? Any info would be appreciated.

It was done with the canon 20D and canon 100-400 lens.I was not that happy with this image, I think it could have been clearer.

Looks like there was some optical distortion from heat.  I can see from the trees it wasn't summer, but perhaps there was some heat coming up from the field under the Sandhill Cranes.  We have a few Whopping Cranes here in Wisconsin, too, but I've only been able to photograph Sandhills.
