joe baker pine bush ny 0 Posted November 5, 2007 Norbert;i need to know whats bad about the quality? Link to comment
5711 0 Posted November 6, 2007 its pretty much what is mentioned above. the colors of the bird, not that sharp and noise. "bad" wasnt the right word..i should have wrote something like lack of detail or something. it is a great shot, best one out of this series id say. the heart symbol and the bird work great together. also the place where the bird sits on fits exectly. it is a really cool picture. i do not know how you did this. maybe it would be possible to install a flashlight on the otherside to get the bird some extra light? flashlight can ruin the movement, but there are ways to get some movement and flashlight into a scene. manual setting, flash and an exposure time that is a bit too long..not that long because then there would be to much highlights in it., maybe a highkey would be great also? dunno. blend to shutter time setting might be changed in a way that with flashlight added, it will look similar to this but there should be more detail/color sor it would be outstanding. did i make myself clear? ..hope so.. sorry for the "bad"-comment i first did :) keep it up cheerrs Link to comment
joe baker pine bush ny 0 Posted November 6, 2007 Thanks for the explanation Norbert, i do appreciate all comments.i use a Canon rebel 300d w/signa 50-200 zoom. the heart is cut out of a cardboard box that was painted black, the time about nine am,the sun was frount left of the subject. 5711 0 Posted November 6, 2007 okay i see the 300d can handle a slave-flashlight? so that is how i would do it: getting a box like you, put some food to someplace so all the animals will come, you know..elephants white sharks and cows. the hole and the food should be positioned in a way that makes it most likley some of this nice looking things will sit itself right where this bird here did. maybe you did that, i dont know..just saying what i think :9 before that i would bring the camera in position, using a remote control for releasing the shutter. id think 24mm or something about that would be my choice because im in love with wideangles, i really am. on the outside of the box i would position the flash. you know...connected with those cable thingies to the camera. flahs setting would be rear..so it brings in light at the end of the exposure, using about 200 iso and a setting of the flash (dont know how they are called with canon flashes)that would only grant a little of light so only the colors where set right.the exposuretime would be, depending on what daytime it is, a little bit longer than it should be (use the blend to not overexposure the image, but also keep the blend below 6.5 (movement and dof)). the flash would be rear, and by doing so i think you would create another great image :) i think you will have to try out the settings a bit, not so sure how it would work like this but thats pretty much what i would try in the first place. making sure that the bird is not excessively blurry or the flash is not too strong will be the hardest parts id guess.. hope you get me...typing alot of confusing things here. just an idea^^ happy shooting :) Link to comment
5711 0 Posted November 6, 2007 positioning the flash on the outside of the box makes sure that the (black) inside will not be lightned. you can cover camera and flash with a camuoflage net dressded up with grass and stuff, highly recommended :) Link to comment
