Your building is breaking out of the box :) Great looking reflection lines flowing in the glass. Love those details and this style. Great piece my friend. Best rgs Tero.

Thanks. I have a question for you: trees or no trees? My husband says he would prefer the shot without trees. Guess he's a "building purist." Do they distract or add to this photo in your expert opinion? Thanks -

Not the expert opinion, but you know i like simple photos... or they should look like simple but still with a lot of mayhem in it, or just something to look at. Was i enough fuzzy in my reply. When i wrote the first comment, i was writing about the bushes but i left it out cause i was quite certain that you didnt have an option to leave them out of this photo. but if i would have an option i would make it without the bushes. Best rgs Tero.

I love images like this - I've got a few from Las Vegas in my portfolio. You've captured a great reflection and used wonderful colors from the sky. Nice work!

I saw. And my favorite is "Final Casino." Somthing about the angle, lines and tonality. But I must say that St. Pete Florida looks a lot more "warped" than Las Vegas. At least on glass. Who'd a thunk? Thanks for your comment. Cheers -

Most often the choice of whether or not to include trees is not an option. If the trees are in the way then they must be included or the photograph cannot be taken. I don't mind the trees in this image and I really did not notice them until I read the question about them.

I took a photograph of an interesting reflection yesterday that includes trees all along one side and I even cropped it to include more of the trees than I needed to. I'll post that image soon and then direct your attention to it. The things that I always attempt to eliminate from my reflected images are vehicles, poles and wires. When I find that I cannot get the reflection image I want because of vehicles, poles or wires I will just move on and not take the photograph.

Yours is a very nice image and the question in this case about the trees has no matter in its beauty.

I would have preferred without trees, but cropping would have taken away a lot from this picture.

In this particular case, as Shawn points out, there is no choice. There was no vantage point from which to shoot that was treeless. There are many, many more beautiful reflections to shoot in my lovely city. I look forward to the next outing. Also looking forward to your upload, Shawn. Thanks for your comments. Cheers -

Thanks for the fine idea Frits. I will consider such a crop in the future, and may even compose some shots with that crop in mind.

Note that you need the following RGB values for the background(s)

As an Attatch R=255, G=255, B=255

On your own pages R=239, G=239, B=239

(although it was meant as a joke ;-)

The cut is surprising, yes. For these reflection shots I prefer not taking the bulding out of context. I love the hidden stories they tell - as you turn the corner and see a different color and set of buildings, look into the panes and detect objects inside the glass like the window blinds. Perhaps next time I can find a shot that allows for a surprise cut along the window panes but keeps all the other information. Thanks for taking the time to explore this possibility. Good job -

Ahh... ha! Get rid of the trees... if you can. Doing it in Pshop is an almost hopeless task. In the field, it's dead easy: rent a helicopter or something. Or find another building.

Or, you can tell me to go elsewhere to see if I'm there.

Seriously, the picture promises much, but doesn't exactly deliver. Perhaps you could revisit the place, see if you can get a better angle or something. See if a telephoto would give you an interesting picture with only part of the building. I guess you knew that you had a problem with those trees.

Again you're 100% correct. The trees shouldn't be in this shot. And perhaps that corner thing should go too. As Frits points out, the color are off as well. Alas, I went downtown to seek another vantage point for this building's reflection to try again and it just can't be done. So I'll be interviewing other buildings soon and will then eradicate this one from MySpace for photographers :) Thanks for your honesty and great guidance. Cheers -

I finally posted an image of a reflection with a tree included in the image. It is not the one I spoke of above, but a different one that I photographed last weekend. Hope you like it.
