Dead Bait Won't Catch Fish

PhotoShopped the wood piling the fish sits on (rounded grey/blue ridge to the bottom of the frame). Other adjustments were applied to the entire image (sharpen, highlights/shadow).

Did you have fun in doing this one??? I love the lighting BTW. But... I keep asking myself, what did you do here, how did you proceed to get that shot by all the gods!

It was lots of fun. Thanks for asking :) I was out on our dock and noticed this poor dead bait fish. He was very shiny and see-though. Naturally, I had to set up a shot. There's a short wood piling near the dock with a crack in its top into which the fish fit nicely. So I fitted him into the slot, got behind him facing the sun and, voila! The wood piling wasn't interesting looking so I selected the area from the rounded edge down to the bottom of the frame and used various PhotoShop alterations to create something interesting that would compliment the rest of the image. The white ridge nicely matched the ridge around the fish (which is not manipulated) and was created by selecting just that narrow strip and using the Select/Modify/Border command and then deleting with the background color set to match the fish's edge. The ridge to the bottom was just darkened with Image/Adjust/Levels. As with most of my photos, the image has been sharpened overall (using a method described by Scott Kelby in his great book, "The Digital Photography Book.") Now all you have to do is find a dead bait fish and a cracked wooden piling! Cheers -

Original! Perfect DOF and colors do the difference ps or not. The bluer levels are well done. Alberta Congrats.
