This is a great photo with lots of personality. The subject matter of the dog with the chess pieces is very clever. At first you eye is drawn to the dog then to the game of chess. The detail in the dogs face is great, how the one eye is light and shown with great detail and the other is a shadow and blacked out. You can tell the light is coming from the side working well. The couch and the dog add a sense of softness to the photo as the game of chess are very cold and clear cut. Great photo with its compositional elements very simple but descriptive.

Thanks for your kind comment! I think that showing characters out of context is a great way to make an image interesting.
