jcpopper 0 Posted October 24, 2007 Taken in late afternoon as a storm from the Kansas Prairie blew into NW Missouri. Unmanipulated. Thanks for taking a look. Link to comment
sea 0 Posted October 24, 2007 Amazing! Those clouds look so unreal! It feels like the ground is high up in the sky Link to comment
mdineen 0 Posted October 24, 2007 the silhouettes make me think of platos' allegory of the cave. who knows if what we see is real or an illusion? excellent image joseph. mary Link to comment
shirkwolfe 0 Posted October 24, 2007 Excellent! The silhouettes add perspective and add to the composition. I live in Kansas from whence they came. :) Link to comment
jeffl7 0 Posted October 25, 2007 Those great thunderheads are so well lit. I remember well these towering clouds churning and rising over the flatlands. The weird, beautiful light and the sense of wind whipping in from nowhere. Many, many memories of being caught in the middle of nowhere are evoked from this exceptional image. Link to comment
dseltzer 0 Posted October 25, 2007 Joe, to my eye this is a very exceptional image with multiple levels, visually and otherwise, well conceived and well captured. The contrast between the closer dark clouds and the growing-dark thunderhead, with yet a tiny slice of blue sky adds such depth and drama. I also can't escape seeing this as multiple portraits by a master. You've captured the growing strength and foreboding of the coming storm (a portrait of a storm), while also making portraits of the people, two standing in awe, two moving to get a better look, and all with hands held close, or in pockets with reverence. An outstanding image. Congratulations! Regards, David Link to comment
skyjammer 0 Posted October 25, 2007 Exceptional clarity in the cloud cover on the left. The poeple silhouettes are the icing on the cake. Excellent capture as usual. Very well done. Regards, -Ade Link to comment
bramadan 0 Posted October 25, 2007 Gorgeous shot... you can practically smell the ozone. Clouds alone would have been great but silouthes and a tree really make it. Awesome job ! Link to comment
jcpopper 0 Posted October 25, 2007 Gabriela: Thanks so much for taking the time to comment. much appreciated. mary: Thanks, as always, for your kind note. Susan: I know that you know I didn't "create" these clouds in post processing. Thanks for your generous comment. Jeff: And you know, too, that these are real midwest thunderheads. I'm glad this image brought back memories of the prairie sky. Thanks for taking note. David: Many thanks for your very thoughtful comment. Ade: I'm pleased that you like this shot. Thanks so much for your comment. Bojan: I'm delighted that you like this image. Many thanks. Link to comment

mariolupo 0 Posted October 25, 2007 I feel the sent of storm approaching, the real clouds are magic, brilliant contra jour , gives me the urgency to join the shadowy figures, to the ridge. You seized the moment , Joe. I do enjoy it now, from far away in Oz. Warm wishes from Mario. Link to comment

neville hammond 0 Posted October 25, 2007 Hello Joe, this is simply stunning. I couldn't possibly add anything to what has already been said. Excellent work! Best regards, Neville H. P.S. I tried to rate this with sevens but the programme came up with the following message: "We had a problem processing your entry: The owner of this photo has rated 1 of your photos with a 7 during the last fourteen days; and you aren't allowed to reciprocate so soon." Please add 1/1 to my reluctant sixes. Link to comment
