This is how it came out of the camera, I'm not sure if stronger fill

would have helped, if a polarizer would have helped, or if post

production filters would help. Still I'm not displeased as is. Please

add suggestions.

a portrait against a bright sky is always a tough shot.

the exposure is basically good, but a fill flash or a polarizer filter might of helped bring out the eyes more.

but i think the background (the wooden post and bather) is more distracting.

very nice capture of the smile.

cheers!

Thanks Kenny.

Do you have any experience with post production processing? Can I add the filtering after the fact? Can I remove the bather(I like the color)?

Steve, portraiture is all about expression. Frankly, I don't see how you could do better than this. This is the kind of image that she will look back on in years to come which will fill her and those around her with joy.

Such a wonderful smile, the wind adds an extra element. For me it is the natural expression and candor of the moment that is great to share, we should all have such wonderful photos to look back on and remember,

Thank you for taking time to comment on this photo.

It's great to have family to photo, since I'm a complete amatuer. Nowadays, pictures can last long enough to become memories. This model just had her first communion last week, so the picture will need to last a while.

Beautiful image of ~ I believe your daughter. I understand the title perfectly and agree with you 100%. Excellent skin tone and sharpness along with color makes this image a winner. "smiles'"

Thank you for stopping by, and for taking time to comment on my photo.

This is my step-daughter's daughter, so she calls me grandpa. She's a great subject, and enjoys posing. She also enjoys taking pictures herself. I had to put away the F3 to save film, so occasionally let her play with the D200. Then she can fire away until the card is full.

Your attachment is a great image, I assume of a school play. It's rare that they let photographers any where near the kids to get a capture like that.

Time does sure go by, and the kids get big in a hurry. I'm still an amatuer, but I've got some nice images that will preserve the memories.

Steve,

I totally agree with John. The motto "A moment in time perfectly captured" is absolutely true in this case.
