This is one of the last operating water-powered saw mills in the

country. Located in Kingston, NH. Anyway, would like your comments

on the photo - is it too "busy" for B&W, should I have used a lawn

mower before taking picture, etc? You can see the color version in my

single photo folder, if you are interested. Thanks for looking.

My only concern when looking at this picture is that the mill seems to have been harshly treated to a sawing on the left hand side. I dare say there is a good reason for this. Perhaps there was something so grotesque it had no place in this photograph. However, the resulting composition leaves me with an unbalanced sensation and a desire to crop in hard from the right to level out that sense of inbalance.

Phil, if that is the only concern you have, I am flattered. The building is almost complete, but the corner post of the building is painted white, and has big hinges on it for the front door on the other wall. To me, it would ruin the photo, so I cropped it. You may be right about cropping from the right. I tried several different places, but settled on this one. Thanks for your comment. I love your stuff. My family came from England in the 1640's. There's still a Farnsworth, England. May be spelled a little different.

Barry, Ive not yet jumped into the BW arena. So keep that in mind as you determine if what I say is of any value to you.

Too Busy for BW? To me it is not too busy for the color version and see no problem in the BW version. Maybe you could tell me why BW is to be less busy than color? In fact I feel it to be a pleasant picture. Looking at the pic I dont know if the Mill needs to be the subject. I believe the stream and surrounding area are sufficient for my pleasure with the Mill just as an accent. I am enjoying the overall picture.

Lawn mower? The wildflowers and green grasses are an asset to the picture. I like this a lot but also like the color version.
