gungajim 75 Posted October 15, 2007 These are the foothills of the Andes in the Atacama Desert, one of the driest regions on earth. These wetlands/saltflats are from a river that flows down from the Andes. So much water evaporates here that the river never makes it out of these flatlands. Sort of a Dead Sea on a small scale.
