Hi people. I know I've been quiet for a while, but I finally have a

little breathing room, so I'm finally posting work I'd done months

ago! Please comment on this one for me. As usual, I'm after ways to

improve, not just a pat on the back :)

Nice composition of the picture and light, but I think that you have blured her face to much...A little sharper and will be fine :) Greets!

I liked the portrait. But, since you said "not just a pat on the back", I can tell you that I have found the post processing for the "soft" look a bit too much, making the person more like a statue than a human. Very nice look, by the way.

Thank you all for your comments. I know I might have gone a bit over-the-top with the blur, but I wantedd to portray a dreamy look. Every girl wants to feel and look like an angel, after all ;-)

Thank you for all your comments, I truly appreciate them. Mr Rhoades, that definitely includes you too :) As I said, I'm not after pats on the back. I'll post the original up for critique shortly...

Best regards,

Mark

Wow, some of the posters are pretty strict with what they want. Yes, the skin has been softened a lot. Perhaps the one thing I would do differently if you want the softness, is clean up the whites of her eyes a little bit. Because having sharp focus against soft focus is one of many ways to draw our attention, and "hot spots" like the whites in her eyes are another reason, I automatically go there and dwell on the health of her eyes. It might not happen so much if I saw every pore in her face.

But having soft portraits like this is a matter of taste. She's a beautiful girl, the softness seems consistent, it's just fine. Doesn't she like the portrait? There is more than one way to portray things, and this image is far from "ruined" to me. It's actually very well executed within its genre. Nice job!

A soft, lovely portrait, and I assume that's exactly what you were after. (I strongly agree with Donn's comment -- and what Vicente has implied by his remarks. I'm not a big fan of critics who tell you what you should want to do. I'd rather try to understand your aims and comment on them.) Regards...

Thank you all for your comments and critiques :) I do appreciate all the feedback I get here on PN. I wanted to give a dreamy feel to this particular portrait. Art can be so subjective, but then again that's what adds spice to life, isn't it? One person may dislike what another doesn't and so on. In any case, thanks for all the feedback and the ratings. I'm here to learn and to improve, so I take and weigh each comment in its own context and on its own merit...

Best regards,

Mark
