Micki,

I like what you've done with this. You've captured the motion and grace of the subject without losing too much in the way of details. (I'm about as graceful as a St. Bernard on an agility course, so I'm always impressed with dancers.)

Two nitpicks. I wish I could see more of her left arm, but that's not a big deal, just a personal opinion. I also wish that bit of grey at the top right wasn't there. It's a little distracting. (Could be the ADHD coming out in me, though.)

Again... I like it. The two figures together make it interesting to me.

This is a fine shot. Much of dance as an art involves the almost mystical extension of energy and form beyond the body, and you've captured that very well with the light, tones, composition, and motion blur in this image. You do interesting, gutsy, and often delicate work. Almost every time I see one of your posts, I'm intrigued. Regards...

YEP, but I could only do what the camera caught. The only thing I did (honestly) with this picture was get rid of the background. Meaning the window and the door. I cloned them out. The other thing I did was put it into B&W with a touch of pink. That is it. Nothing else. No touch up or manipulation on anything else but cloning. You could say it was a flub of a picture. LOL

The upper corner I took out and it made the picture look to open it need the it back for some depth. It is the corner of the ceiling and I didn't create it. If I probably took it totally out you would be sishing for something ther. Or maybe not. (giggle)

one, because it was so different and two because I knew the mother would love it. It is art and not just a picture which is something I go for when I take pictures. Anyone can take a picture of someone dance but this was, how did you say, delicate.

When I went to try and adjust the contrast it wouldn't let me. It was if the camera caught it just perfect as is. Nothing more or less. How incredible is that!

I should have named it Dance on AIR. Where were you when I was trying to name it :)

YES!

Nice to see your heart. I always am so thrilled to see it in a post.

I love this twirling dance!

You reminded me of something that my old photo teacher in high school said... sometimes amateurs get better photos than pros because the amateur doesn't know what will NOT work and therefore tries new things... and then they find something new that DOES work. This by no means implies I'm a pro!

You amaze me with the number of things you do that stretch beyond what so many others attempt... and succeed! I love your vision.

That and partly I hate REAL pictures. LOL

SO, I bumped up a totally different settings and tried to make them look like ghosts and just let the pictures fly one after the other while they were dancing.

If I got them looking normal I would have hated them. HA

Yep.. that's me. Always wishing for something.

I DO like it though.. I think it's beautiful. Did I rate this? I can't remember. I'm so tired.

So I did. I don't quite recall doing it, but at least I agree with myself! I work 3pm-11pm, so I fell asleep sometime around 4am. Had to get up by 8am to take my car to the shop, but I did manage to fit in a nap afterwards. Woke up just as tired as I was when I fell asleep and spent much of my day delirious. Such is life. :)

I love the ghostly quality, not only in the blur but in the purplish color. I rarely like pictures of dancing because they look too freeze-framed and never capture the fleeting experience of an ever-changing body. This works so well with their shifting skirts and murky expressions. Very lively! Very effective!

I used to shoot photos for a ballet-school, back at the 80`s. My images were dull and stationed, when compared to this beautiful image of modern dance/ballet. Definitely a fine and describing capture!

This is so graceful to look at. I think the low saturation and the textures work great on this one. I do wish the face was a little sharper but thats being picky
