dberryhill 3 Posted October 10, 2007 I wonder if that's a good thing for the rest of us. Link to comment
jcpopper 0 Posted October 10, 2007 Poor ol' Sam. Even he needs a bracer these days. Great shot! Regards... Link to comment
dberryhill 3 Posted October 11, 2007 Joe, I have very much appreciated your comments on this and other of my pictures. Thank you sincerely. I don't think my style of photography is in vogue these days, at least on PhotoNet. Link to comment
jcpopper 0 Posted October 11, 2007 Doug, I understand your frustration. But in the long run, who cares about what's in vogue now or how a bunch of meaningless numbers add up? In the end what will last are your photographs. PN is really nothing more than a museum/gallery with a goofy rating system tagged on. I think its most important functions are giving us some added impetus to shoot and providing us with a "room" to hang our work where our friends and colleagues can view it. Keep posting. You do fine work. It may not be in vogue at the moment, but it will endure. Regards, Joe Link to comment
awareness 0 Posted October 16, 2007 I like your work, in vogue or not, but what I think is or what anyone eslse thinks is not important. I believe it is essential to be true to yourself in how you express what is inside of you. That's what I like to see, someone being uniquely themselves. Andy Warhol said that when someone critizes your art just do more art. I think you have something special that many people are overlooking and that is their loss. Do more of what you do and keep doing that. Link to comment
Mike Marcotte 49,936 Posted October 17, 2007 It's a good vintage Berryhill shot, & if your pictures aren't in vogue, I think that means you're probably doing something good. Link to comment
dberryhill 3 Posted October 17, 2007 Thanks for the encouraging words. I'd like to get to the point where my self-concept as a photographer isn't effected by the opinions of others. But, unfortunately, I'm not there yet. I appreciate you. Link to comment
laurent-paul 1 Posted April 12, 2008 The real America, smilling, and busy spekaing on the phone, and a certain ideal of America, looking tired, lamost sad. Great photo ! Link to comment
bosshogg 4 Posted May 11, 2008 I'm astonished I missed this image until now. Uncle Sam, looking a bit past his prime and with a rather dour expression and slumped posture, implying a revered tradition and heritage, but holding a plastic cup that might well be the best symbol I can think of for our modern culture. And then there is the stereotypical overall clad everyman. A complete package of hard drinkin', hard workin', gun totin', boy who has no use for commie intellectuals and gays putting the ruin to his country. While I recognize that this could be just a straight forward small town moment, I think it drips with irony. ABSOLUTELY MARVELOUS! Link to comment
dberryhill 3 Posted May 12, 2008 You're saving me money! You show me much more in my own pictures than I would gain by replacing my old, dim monitor. Thank you. Link to comment
bosshogg 4 Posted May 12, 2008 As good as you are, once you get "discovered" you won't need any monitor at all. You can just go mosey down to the art museum and look at your images larger than life. Link to comment
