Hi Greg,

I think this picture has quite a potential. I would avoid having the foreground trail. Rock is ok, but I would also try without rock,. I feel like going down, probably 1ft max on the ground. I would get the grass in the foreground, from slightly lower perspective and keep it SIMPLE if I am focused on landscape perspective. If from journalistic perspective, I would also get more surroundings too. A lot of times I also get much surrounding for landscape shots, but only if it is aesthetically pleasing.

Even if you decide to crop or not, if you can brighten trees below the mountain it would be great. I found light room most easy to do that. Curves are capable but then we have to be so cautious that we don't damage the image at some other areas while fixing the exposure at one.

This is a pleasing shot again.

an attachment..just an illustration of simplicity. Having a little lower perspective would also enhance this composition more.

I do have another photo of this scene without the log and rock in the foreground. I'm sure this photo can be improved with photoshop or light room, but I don't do much editing with software, usually only adjustments with DPP for RAW conversion, and some minor editing using levels, curves and saturation with ZoomBrowser for JPEGs.
