Goosenecks of the San Juan

near the 'four-corners' area, the Goosenecks was a favorite place to camp. Great looking

deep into the canyon and the big river below. John Ford shot a scene of "Tie a Yellow Ribbon"

here with John Wayne throwing an empty whiskey bottle over the edge. It's such a vast and

haunting place and you can hear the emptiness. The colors are real, shot about half an hour

after sunset.
