Matt Laur 2,201 Posted October 7, 2007 Taken at a field event, this shot was challenging at 340mm, and lent itself to some slightly painterly manipulation. Views better larger. Thanks for looking, and for comments. Link to comment

Matt Laur 2,201 Posted October 9, 2007 Mary: Thanks! The more I look back at the way this turned out, the happier I am at the awkwardness (technically) of the original shot. Sometimes bad luck is a good thing, since it pushes me to approach an image differently. Of course, it helps if you actually LIKE the subject matter, too (which I do!). Link to comment
mark_starr 0 Posted August 9, 2008 I have to agree with the first comment - this is just a first rate shot with the way you have handled it. I know nothing about dogs other than they have four legs in general, but this series of images really captures what I imagine hunting dogs to be. Alert, in the field, and part of a team. The focus on the dog's head and short depth of field with that length lens really paints the image of a dog working and paying attention to the job he is there to do. The softness of the environment around him further increases the importance of the dog, and great colors throughout the image. A very nice series - Mark Link to comment
