henderson 0 Posted October 6, 2007 Beautiful capture, Roger! I think you have found a really good balance between a frame filling snapshot, and a wider shot that wouldn't show as much detail. The lighting is excellent, and the position of the wings adds so much interest to the shot through the patterns in the feathers. Well done! Link to comment
JohnMWright 1 Posted October 6, 2007 I like the timing of this one with both wings down and the light coming through. Great capture Roger. Link to comment
jeffl7 0 Posted October 7, 2007 These birds are so graceful. I remember this is the first animal I learned of in grade school that was on the Endangered List. I think I was in the 3rd grade at the time, and I began to fret that the egret would become extinct. Funny how almost four decades later, how hopeful it is for me to see one. Great capture. Those wings are gorgeous. Link to comment
vancouverphotographer 0 Posted October 8, 2007 I think you were after a bird in flight shot for a while, right? Great effort here, it all works, you got it sharp, wings and legs in a great position ... nice space in front of it in this composition too - well done! Link to comment
gerfoy3 0 Posted October 8, 2007 Yea great timing, never an easy shot so I got to say well done. Now the ultimate challenge..Grab a shot like this at about 1/80s with a wonderful pan movement and motion in the wings....That is a shot I'd like to grab at least, but I think it would take a lot of practice. rogerleekam 0 Posted October 8, 2007 Thanks, everyone. Ger,I think the only way your ultimate challenge could work is if the bird is flying more or less in your direction, that and/or more luck than one can expect in this life. Link to comment
cherlyn 1 Posted October 8, 2007 The lighting here through the wings is really excellent. Seem that I see another Egret's head shadow on its wing. Lovely flight captured. Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted October 8, 2007 Roger, this is a super nice catch, the light on the wings and the details are making it. very nice shallow surrounding that gives all the stage to the bird! Link to comment
mvisionphotography 1 Posted October 9, 2007 WOW. I just noticed that. How amazing is that. Link to comment
someoneelse 1 Posted October 9, 2007 As said before, iy is beautifull because of the light on the wings, and ofcourse this beautifull bird is very gracefull, so it is a pleasure to look at the forms --Els Link to comment

jan_piller 0 Posted October 10, 2007 Good grab Roger! I love the light coming through his wings! Persoanlly, I would have preferred a shallower DOF but that's just personal as I say. This is really lovely! Link to comment
mommix 0 Posted October 10, 2007 Great and superb work! The colours and lights are perfect and the white contrast of the egret against the background is wonderful! Compliments and regards, Maury Link to comment
