soniam 6 Posted January 25, 2008 Wow, How fantastic! The old parchment and script - the oil lamp - Everything is fabulous! I really love the old artist rendering peeking out from behind the scroll. I think I like the lamp lit better like in your other photo. Amazing work Mikel Link to comment
paolamarinangeli 0 Posted January 15, 2009 Mikel,I like your Still life portfolio and visit this section again, this morning, I have been captured by this one that to me it's absolutely fantastic. I like the way you composed the old manuscript leaves, the calamo and the little terracotta oil-lantern, the face ( from an Icon right'''?) just appearing in the background let me think about a kind or spiritual meaning we can give to this shot, there are elements linked to religions (different religions) the art or writing expressed by the calamo everithing so elegantly combined with a perfect, warm light, to create a very beautiful photo full of ''food for thought''. Very well done and marked in the group of my favourites Paola Link to comment
arbelex 0 Posted January 16, 2009 Thank you, Paola, for your words. Its a pleasure to see people valuing so carefully a work of mine. That's the reason why I keep on uploading. You are right, its a byzantine icon -painted by myself (sometimes I do things like this :)- the piece you can see under the old parchments. Thank you again for your interest. Regards Link to comment
paolamarinangeli 0 Posted January 16, 2009 Mikel thanks for yr note and for telling me that you have painted the Byzantine Icon in the background .Now I have one more reason to congratulate you!!!I am a painter myself and you know....looking at your still life photos I had suddenly the ''impression'' that you should be a painter too, so now I know I was right with my thought. Probably I am wrong but I have noticed that when a painter decides to start with photography for him it's easier to compose a set, then there is the technique side of photography and I wont to enter discussing this, but being used to make compositions that will become a painting and deciding which kind of objects I want to include in a still life painting....well this makes the photographer's job easier, easier in term of 'composition', then as already said there is the technical skill that in your case is at the HIGHEST levels. Please continue to post your photos because it is extremely interesting to find also the inner meaning behind the shot and also they are a true joy for the eyes!Paola. Link to comment
stefan_pop_lazic 0 Posted June 11, 2013 Perhaps You will understand my critique, it comes as a good will. Lamp belongs to different period and different design. In such way face which belongs to medieval times goes better with some kind of candle. You can combine this lamp with latin manuscript and roman fresco. Otherwise good light. Link to comment
