Found near a creek, this is a Northern Pacific Rattler, still young and developing its rattle. I've

never seen a rattler anywhere but on the ground, but htis one was up about 2 feet in a

blackberry bush. To get the tongue, my wife (not realizing how far they can leap) jiggled the

branch. I don't expect she'll do that again, but it dramatically improved the shot! (imho).

No animals or shrubs were harmed in the taking of this photograph.

Hi Donn ... you say no animals or shrubs were harmed ... but you didn't mention your wife!

Seriously it's a rare shot ... nice work!

I think this guy was still digesting a meal, if you look at the bulge there, so he was not inclined to leap. They can get about 6 feet in a spring, but that's assuming they start on a solid surface. Luckily, it never came to that!

Thanks for the compliment, I appreciate it :)

Nice picture, if my daughter was there she would of been long gone. Like you said you normally would of not got a picture of him in a bush.

Very brave capture Donn

also send best greetings to your very supportive and courageous other half, too. I think fondly of people ready to pay the price for what they love. :-) Great picture, could be from the garden of Eden, brilliant focus and appreciated the story and natural detail you gave us . Thank you for your visits and comments, really nice to meet you and great to look at your impressive folio. Best regards

How nice of you to say, Carolyn. You shouldn't be shy about your own work though. I came to your image because it's good, not because I was looking for posters named "Carolyn" :)
