This was NOT taken on the safari. This shot is from the Rothschild Giraffe Center, right in Nairobi. It's a center for education about giraffes ... and I believe that they do some breeding there as well. Anyway - you can feed the giraffes and interact with them here. It's where I took the two pics of those beautiful little girls (same folder).

I definitely had the opportunity at the Giraffe center to get closer to the giraffes than I did when I was on the safari. With this shot, I only liked it in B&W. The green brush and brown dirt were too distracting to my eye in the background with the color. In the B&W I like the lines of the necks.

Do you have a better crop? Any other thoughts?

I think even a tighter crop would work well, and I don't know how to do what I'm also going to suggest, but a black background like Cano uses would also make the abstract subject of the patterns "pop" out. I love the textures and designs in animal hide.

Thanks, Susan - I was trying to find different ways to key in on the patterns in the hide. I thought it was fascinating that there are different giraffe hide patterns (you can see it in one of the other shots that I uploaded ... the one with the three necks). I know absolutely nothing about wild animals!
