jcpopper 0 Posted September 30, 2007 Thanks. This is a resubmission. The first was posted incorrectly. Link to comment
jcpopper 0 Posted September 30, 2007 Sorry, I accidentally erased your encouraging comments while resubmitting this shot. Thanks, though. I remember them. Regards... Link to comment
gordonjb 10,860 Posted September 30, 2007 HI Joseph, this is the oddest dead end sign I have ever seen. Link to comment
jcpopper 0 Posted September 30, 2007 Gordon, Yup, pretty odd. I found it on a true back road in an area near the Missouri/Iowa border. Judging by appearances, I don't think the other folks in the region took kindly to the warning. Maybe there's some sort of lesson in that battered "Keep Out" sign. Regards... Link to comment
adelah 0 Posted October 1, 2007 Haha, strange indeed:) but effective :) excellent catch, bravo! Link to comment
jcpopper 0 Posted October 1, 2007 Adela, Thanks. I never doubted that you would understand. Regards... Link to comment
dianadeaver 0 Posted October 1, 2007 This image has stong documentary power and is a testament to the diversity, creativity and imagination of human kind. I'm glad you thought of capturing it. Link to comment
photis santamouris 23 Posted October 1, 2007 I remember seeing signs with snakes in Thailand, who warned visitors to keep out of certain fields, but here I just can't make out what would happen to tresspasers. Will they end up dead by a snake's venom,or gunfire? It's pretty odd how English language is used to express such locations! bramadan 0 Posted October 1, 2007 Great composition, I love the piece of red fence in the corner. Very nice shot. Link to comment
jcpopper 0 Posted October 2, 2007 PhoS: In the U.S. this sort of sign doesn't mean you will actually be bitten or shot. It means, sadly, that you are truly not welcome. I think the sign says something rather sad about many things. Link to comment
jcpopper 0 Posted October 2, 2007 Thanks for noticing this odd little image. It's hardly a pleasant message, but I fear it does say something about the nature of things these days. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted October 2, 2007 This is very great image, the exposure here and the composition are very well balanced and the image is so pleasant All of the best my friend Link to comment
jeffl7 0 Posted October 3, 2007 ...at least there's no mixed message here. Someone didn't take kindly to the sign, though. Nicely seen and clicked. Link to comment
jcpopper 0 Posted October 3, 2007 Hardly a masterpiece, but I do think the sign itself says something about the way things are right now. I was pleased that the neighbors didn't appreciate the message. I'm sure if I visit it again the sign will be pocked by buckshot. Thanks for taking a look. Regards. Link to comment
thadley 10 Posted October 3, 2007 I like the image - perhaps someone got rattled and battered the "keep out" sign. Well seen and captured. Link to comment
jcpopper 0 Posted October 3, 2007 Thank you both for taking note of an image I consider a sad comment on the current state of affairs. Regards... Link to comment
gordonjb 10,860 Posted October 3, 2007 If this sign is nearby, it could be interesting to drop around once in a while and follow it's life. It does look in need of a touch of buckshot. :) Link to comment
jcpopper 0 Posted October 4, 2007 It's about 100 miles from here, but I get up that way now and then. If I can find it again (it's on a truly "back" road), I'll let you know if someone took a 12-gauge and left a new message. Regards, Joe Link to comment
