This was NOT taken on the safari. This shot is from the Rothschild Giraffe Center, right in Nairobi. It's a center for education about giraffes ... and I believe that they do some breeding there as well. Anyway - you can feed the giraffes and interact with them here. It's where I took the two pics of those beautiful little girls (same folder).

I definitely had the opportunity at the Giraffe center to get closer to the giraffes than I did when I was on the safari. This was taken with my 50mm, up real close. I'm going to upload it both in color and in B&W. I'm trying to gauge which is more appealing. I've got several animal shots that I'm going to do the same with ... upload both a color and B&W, looking for you to compare and contrast the two....

Lou Ann... I can't decide which one I like more!!?? Both are appealing for different reasons, so I guess the question is as the artist, which do you prefer? The patterns and light play are very interesting. Toss a coin.. both great! Regards....LJ

Thanks, Lesa! I have to say that I'm not sure, either. For example, if I were doing a series of animal hides to hang on my wall, I'd want them in B&W. But the coloring of a giraffe is rather pretty, too ... so for other purposes, I like the color version. :-)
