Very eloquent title and the image represent it quite well. It's truly a wonderful picture, one of the few with many different lectures.....specially with the WreckedEarth words on it.

Thanks all for looking, I hate to tell you ryan, its not a composite,I have many shots like this with both pelicans and other sea birds.

Great capture Birte. The composition is absolutely perfect which is no small deal when you are dealing with birds in flight. I love the contrasts and colors as well. Looking forward to hear more about your publication. Regards - michel

Impressive capture! The scene would have been pleasing on it's own, but how fortunate to have this well positioned visitor. Congratulations.

Very nice image. In particular like your choice of focal length for the perspective it provided. Quite refreshing.

What would have helped would have been the use of flash to add a small amount of light to the pelican and provide better separation with the background. Check out the work of Frans Lanting to get an idea of how effective flash can be with wildlife photography.

Great to have a place nearby where you can keep returning to try new approaches.

Birte, I would be most interested in learning more about the techniques used in this shot. The wide angle beach and clouds is so impressive and then to have the pelican fly by at dusk is fantastic. Tell more about how you did this.
