A composite of shots I took of our oldest grandson, Jake, playing football. I have no real knowledge of the game, I just know he plays as a Linebacker on defense & a Halfback on offense. I do know he

This is a composite of images taken at our grandson's football game.

I am clueless, I just look for him & shoot, hoping I catch something

interesting & hoping he doesn't get hurt. I go about once a year

because it scares me & I think it's too dangerous. He loves it, I

hate it :) I thought this was an interesting group because of the

sequence of blocking by both players. I know the images aren't great,

I'm a novice at sports images. I was just wondering about the format

I have them displayed in. I made it to print at 11x14. I would love

to hear your thoughts & suggestions. Thanks J.

I can guess that Sports Illustrated is calling now! Jayme, the sports photographer!!!

Is this a major career change?

:) Thanks John. I think not! :)

Once a year I go to his football game. I hate watching, it scares the daylights out of me. I didn't like it with my own son & it has gotten even worse with the grandchildren :) I don't mind soccer, tennis, basketball or baseball. I just think football is so unnecessarily dangerous because they get hurt all the time. So nope, no career change :) 2 weeks ago we went to babysit & Jake had bruises all over him. When I asked the cause.... football practice, even in his protective gear. He's only 9. If I was his mother, he would NOT be playing football :( But of course, I am not.

As evidenced by the professional football player who recently was injured in a game & now will never walk again. Too dangerous. I always think of Ancient Rome & the Gladiators when I see a football game! :) I realize there are millions of people that enjoy watching & playing football, I am just not one of them :) I just don't understand what thrill one gets from watching grown men beat the crap out of each other over a stupid football :)

I watched a special on HBO a few months back about some retired football players, it was truly sad how much pain they have to live with each day due to football injuries. It just stands to reason no one can go out everyday & get hit by a 300+lb. linebacker and expect not to get injured permanently.

I think life itself is dangerous enough without willingly putting oneself in harms way. And this from a born & raised Ohioian where Ohio State football with Woody Hayes was truly a fever. I laugh when I remember that he was forced to retire after hitting or shoving one of his players & giving him a verbal tongue lashing. I remember him as a little, feisty guy. (At least he looked small on TV next to his players) I guess it was OK to have a 350 lb. Linebacker knock the hell out of the players but not the coach :) I guess there is some limit to what abuse they have to take :)

Love the format of this! Great job! You are always so creative! I will have to do this for my son's hockey.

Thanks Amy. I did this in an 11x14 format so it could be easily framed with a standard frame from off the shelf. That way, every year my daughter can change it or add another one to it.

I sent this off Monday morning for print, that evening I learned he had been chosen MVP of the game by both coaches. I wish I would have known it before I sent this to print. I would have added that.
