Another scene from the dance " Concerto for a band and four dancers".... The conflict , or separation/ cooperation has some repetitions. Thanks for your impressions.

He looks surely like a very subborn man, but why does she not dance anyway ? More seriously the scene is very well seen and composed. I like the naked head and naked legs that somehow communicate even without music.

Wonderful shot under difficult conditions...I have never really seen a dancers legs up close before...the size of those legs, they look so strong

One of your best. Titled perfectly, I love the stark difference between these two characters. Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful.

Here is more evidence--as if more were needed--that you are a serious artist, Pnina, compared to most of us here who are just playing by comparison.

I have been wondering for some time what lens you use, as well as the exposure data, for these wonderful theater shots that you post.

Thanks to all of you!

Lannie, most of the brown dance photos were taken while performing. I take them with my Canon Lens 70-200mm L F4. 1600 iso( sometime 800iso, depends) and - 2 underexposure....and still I look for the places that has less strong lights as the stage lights are overexposing the photos. It is very tricky, but I learned with time and experience how to use the stage lights. Thanks for your interest and nice comment. Next month I will have an exhibition of my dance work in a nice gallery. I work on the invitation and framing now. I will upload or send you an invitation.

Pnina,

It a very well done picture. I had some thought about cropping the image differently but cherlyn explained to me that this image is just right.

Thanks a lot for your comments on my pictures. They are right on target. Somehow you pick pictures that I really like.

A sad statement that an artist would choose to withold his talents from such a deserving audience. Perhaps he can no longer play or worse yet, never could. Thoughtful image, Pnina. Have a wonderful day, ~Sky

Superb attitude and very nice toning...a very nice addition to your dancer-and-musician-together serie......I really enjoyed this serie Pnina (I never shooted a play indoor anf I am sure it's not easy, a lot of work to get good ones)...I love the guy closed expression.....:-)

Why didn't he play? he was waiting for Pnina to change a CF card on her camera... I think. :D

Love the tonality and composition. Kudos.

Provocative composition. Why doesn't he play? Perhaps there is no audience or he doesn't feel appreciated. Or as someone suggested, maybe he doesn't know how to play. Could she be his muse encouraging him? The interpretations may vary, but one thing is for sure, this is captivating work. I can relate to this Pnina.

Adan,as the dance is called "Concerto to an Orchestra and four Dancers" there is an interaction between them... it is the narative of the dance, with many moments of great humor!the choreographer name is Sally Ann Fridland, we work a lot together, she has great imagination, and we make a good team....

I love that you've caught such a strong moment in the dance piece. Here, we really feel the staged event, seeing the characters full figure, a great deal of the stage and backdrop. This photo locates the action for us. I assume this is the image you were referring to when I commented on Both Of Us, your previous photo from this series. Yes, this does feel colder. His expression is much stronger and more disdainful here. She's reaching out to him but in a somewhat ambiguous way. Also, I think the distance adds to the coldness here. I think of the other photo, Both Of Us, as more intimate yet still cold but the coldness feels more ambiguous, with more to wonder about. Both Of Us involves me quite personally in the coldness. Even though it is staged, there feels something very much real to it. In this photo, the coldness seems quite a bit more certain and direct and directed. Thanks. Makes for a very interesting comparison and they are fascinating to look at side by side.
