This portrait was taken in a local market of ALexandria during my visit to Egypt in 1993. I had a 35mm camera loaded with an Ilford 400 ISO.This is why the photo is rather grainy.

to Atanu Ghosh: firstly, regarding the highlights, it was a very sunny day and getting a perfect exposure in these uncontrollable situation is rather tricky. During the printing process in the darkroom, I did a lot of dodging and burning.

Secondly, I did not want to sharpen this photo too much as it brought out too much unwanted noise caused by the use of a 400 ISO film. Saving the photo to JPEG did not help either. Regards
