josefkissinger 0 Posted September 22, 2007 It's images like these that give digital photography a bad name. For goodness sake, shoot at f/100 or buy a 5D. Don't substitute quality for convenience. If you cant afford a decent digital camera than shoot film. The noise is disgusting and your noise reduction effort--well, ill stop before i hurt someone's feelings. Despite the technical quality, which nobody seems to pay attention to these days, the content is good. It is always interesting to see how differing cultures live their daily lives. These two Indian woman about to fill up there water basins down by the river shows how, even though they are part of a totally different cultural context than I, the fact that everybody needs water shows how similar each of us are as humans, and that is what is relevant in todays conflict ridden world. Apurva Madia 0 Posted September 23, 2007 Dear Josef, Thank you very much for viewing this picture and giving some constructive crticism. I appreciate your concern for technical excellence and I am fully with you on this point. At the same time I am hardly a pro and do photography as a hobby whenever time permits, although this is no excuse for low standards. I would like to correct you one one point though that this is not a digital picture. As mentioned in the picture details, it is shot on a Canon AE 1 Program on black and white 400 ISO film, developed by self in my bathroom! Would love to see your portfolio but I see that you have not uploaded any! Bye and thanks again, Apurva. Link to comment
josefkissinger 0 Posted June 3, 2008 Please, I in no way wanted to offend you. The only way to learn is from criticism, not from someone telling you how good you are. Sorry if I sounded harsh. Link to comment
ankurthatai 0 Posted November 8, 2008 Apurva, Really a wonderful picture this is. I agree with Technical mistakes mentioned by Guest. I like B&W photography very much and scared too because brings out outstanding picture with just colour (Black, grey and white) tone is not a kids job. I also processed films and pirnts in dark room. Friend, truely said your OLD (B&W) photography is better than your latest Digital Photography. look farward to see more B&W shots... Regards Link to comment

leora 3 Posted September 20, 2009 This is a beautiful fashion and social statement. Personally I would like to see it more high key. I loved shooting Tri-X 400 speed and working it in the darkroom until I got the impact I wanted, inspite of the grain. This should not be confused with low quality. The highlights do sometimes get burned out so the darks have to hold their own. Kudos for developing in your bathroom. That is true dedication. Now with digital, we all can sit at a desk and not get our hands wet. Although I miss the smell of the chemicals. I first got a whif in my grandfather's darkroom. I hope you like my variation --- I opened the shadows and added a tint --- Link to comment
