alight 0 Posted September 20, 2007 so there goes the new level of D.M's photography. Your first u-u-wide photo posted. Great perspective. I bet you were just a few inches from the sign? Also, the colour combination of blue and yellow is nice. Are you sure the sign doesn't actually mean that when you set your foot on the roadway, you'll get eliminated? Or maybe it means that an ex-ing designed the place. OK, a big gulp of V8 is needed. So here I go for a fresh bottle... Micheal Link to comment

mark_q 0 Posted September 20, 2007 You surely have an most interesting lens and here we see an good example of the power of it. Interesting capture including that essential bright yellow spot up right. Well seen and done. Link to comment
bosshogg 4 Posted September 20, 2007 Thanks to all of you for comments and rates. I'll probably be playing around a bit with the new wide angle. You know how kids are with new toys. Link to comment
Jack McRitchie 150 Posted September 21, 2007 If this doesn't illustrate the point that it's not where you are but what you see that's the most important thing, I don't know what does. It's the ability to abstract shapes and colors and combine them in a refreshingly fresh and colorful composition that makes this work. I feel that it's a tad oversharpened which accounts for the slight halo effect around the figure on the sign but I seem to be in the minority in this respect since it rarely seem to bother other viewers Link to comment
bosshogg 4 Posted September 21, 2007 You know I very much appreciate getting feedback from you. Thanks for the compliment. I know I over sharpen at times, and I might go back and see what the original looks like just out of curiosity. In this case though, the glow of the sign man and some of the other parts of the sign seem to me to add to the whacked out way I wanted it to look. I don't know that the situation calls for it, but a touch of surrealism is usually a good thing. Maybe it's inappropriate here. I don't really have a clue. From your images, I think you know what I'm saying about our species and can appreciate that. I think in that respect we share many perceptions. Thanks Jack Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted September 23, 2007 I much appreciate the color and composition here. You do have a great eye for distinctive shots, and this is surely no exception. I do as well find it overprocessed. The sharpening and/or saturation play takes away for me. It seems like what we have here is precisely the ordinary becoming extraordinary because of your framing, perspective, and wit in taking the shot. Making it extra-extra-ordinary reduces that effect for me. There's an added layer of artificiality here that I'm not responding to and that seems to go against the purpose I see in the image. Guest Guest Posted September 27, 2007 Like some others, I also think it's overprocessed - there's a kind of halo around the figure on the sign for example... Other than that, a very original image, good composition, and a nice, fun title :) Link to comment

Emmanuel Enyinwa 0 Posted December 17, 2007 A startling composition that illustrates what I said when I first saw your portfolio: it is the vision of the artist that makes the work tick, not the reality of the subject. This image reminds me of the old saying: "Fools rush in...." Link to comment
bosshogg 4 Posted December 17, 2007 Thanks, amigo. Haven't heard any of your wonderful commentaries for awhile. As for fools, I'll take that mantle, but I don't so much rush as blunder in. Link to comment
jeketi 0 Posted January 16, 2008 Very clever & humorous. You are such a right brained man. (that's a compliment). Peace, Jeanne Link to comment
bosshogg 4 Posted January 16, 2008 Sometimes I think it is more like "blight brained man," but I appreciate the compliment. Take care. Link to comment
