lonebearimages 0 Posted September 17, 2007 Beautiful photograph, Mark. The color of the rhodies is just spectacular. I bet this looks fantastic enlarged, matted, and framed. I've always liked this shot a lot. Very well done, my friend. A 7/6 anonymously. Cheers! Chris Link to comment
victor l 0 Posted September 18, 2007 I recognized the image right away from your earlier post (quite a while ago, wasn't it?). I compared the two, and think you got a much better capture on this one. Still the sundown and shadows, but you caught the scene just a few moments earlier and this time got some nice--but still subdued--detail on the rolling hills. These were darkened out more on the earlier one, but both captured the rhododendrons nicely. This one has a few more points of drama for me, not just the sun and flowers, but other landscape elements compliment the scene without, I feel, detracting from these two focal points. Really nice shot. ~Victor Link to comment
anish 0 Posted September 18, 2007 Beautiful shot, Mark. Great exposure control throughout, and very nicely composed to create depth. The sun flare on the hill looks a tad strong for me, but if you waited for the sun to drop a little further, you probably would've lost some of the warm light on the foreground flowers, which I think makes this image. All in all, excellent image. Anish Link to comment
whydangle 0 Posted September 19, 2007 Thanks Chris, Michael, Victor and Anish. Taking a photo is sometimes like purchasing a home. It seems there is always at least one concession, something not perfect about it. I wanted the light of the setting sun to give the Rhodos their glow. A later exposure would have resulted in a cooler shaded light. I took many pics during this moment because I only shoot 3 or 4 time a year and I knew I would probably not be back. Some were away from the direct sun but the compos were not as strong. Thanks for the comments. Link to comment
