The DOF is too shallow, I think. Even the valve that is in focus isn't VERY in focus. My eye want to know a little more about this thing before the fogginess begins.

I was doing a study only on one thing. Not the whole Trumpet. My study was on the light and the reflection of the light on the trumpet and focusing on place on the trumpet. Understandably that it would not be liked but I was facinated with the results. In some ways even my eye feels like it is a blur but I am drawn to the place that I put my fingers when I play. I also wanted to keep my picture the same size that the trupet is and at the same feeling that your eye feels when you are focused on the keys of the trumpet when you are playing in low light. Silly thing but I think I captured a bit of this. When you are in a Bar or a very low lighted room with only a few lights to go buy THIS is all you see right here. Lights that sparkle and the keys to your trumpet. Have a few drinks and maybe you might not even see this well. HA!!

But I agree this DOF is a bit off center. It is only a series of many I did. :) Maybe you would like the other better. It is my favorite.

This picture was also used for this picture here http://photo.net/photodb/photo?photo_id=6414919(another study I changed it for). You are right that the valve is not that sharp. I was practicing with my new manual focus lens. Boy is it a bugger ;) HA!

So Micki, how did you manage to hold the camera in your mouth and take the pic while holding the trumpet with your two hands?

I like the DOF for this one and the angle is good. The colors and lighting are better than the other one I commented on last week. The blues and purples do give a nice bar room feel.

After a few drinks, its not the trumpet I would be looking at.

He he

Oh it's all about those gorilla tripods. You know those ones that wrap around anything. See you wrap it around your neck. LOL

Just kidding. HA!! I actually stood it up on my big round food stool and it stays up straight. I just take pictures of it from there. To the left of me is my DOG wondering what in the world I amm doing.

I actually have pictures of her peeking over the trumpet. I am sitting on the ground next to it.

Hey, I will lay on the floor for anything. HA! ;)

Thanks KIRK :)

I'm just messing with you, hell; I have no idea! That sure was dumb for someone to re-name that. Tuba is probably right.

Funny thing is it actually really looks cool in B&W.

This is also the picture I used for the WHAT IS IT?

That is why I posted this one. I have about a dozen more just like this. I think I will make a photo wall with them. I really lovethe colors. LOTS more than I thought I would. Very proud of this look and might work on it some more. Get it more sharp.
