Emmanuel Enyinwa 0 Posted September 17, 2007 I've caught the bird bug of late. I have encountered a lot of challenges, mostly in holding the camera steady and following the movement of the birds. The second is controlling the contrast range of these birds, especially when I shoot in the afternoon. When I have worked late at night, the problem has been having a fast enough shutter speed to freeze movement while still capturing shadow detail. It seems somewhere in the middle lies a solution, and I intend to keep looking. Link to comment
david hemmings 0 Posted September 17, 2007 It is easy to get the bird bug, happened to me a couple of years ago.You will find that for optimum shooting conditions the early morning and late afternoon early evening light is the best. Sometimes overcast conditions can be good for shooting brighter birds in the miday. Dave Link to comment
jan_piller 0 Posted September 18, 2007 I don't try to get birds in flight because i'm never successfull. The tiny tip of his wing his missing in the upper portion of the image. I'm not very skilled in PS but I would have added a bit of sky and finished off the wing (had I been more skilled) but I did a quick fix to show you what I mean. Link to comment
Emmanuel Enyinwa 0 Posted September 18, 2007 Impressive, Jan. Miind telling me how you did it? Link to comment
jan_piller 0 Posted September 18, 2007 I added a border the same colour as your sky and then smudged it around so it wasn't obvious. Then I painted in a tiny wing tip - although I didn't do a great job - just wanted to show you it only takes a few minutes to do something like that. Link to comment
Emmanuel Enyinwa 0 Posted September 18, 2007 Thanks. I'll try that in the future. But, I went back today, and I found a better solution, which is to lie on my back looking up. I have a few more I plan to post. My experience is that it is easier to reshoot these things than try to fix them. Link to comment
laurent_jaussi 0 Posted September 19, 2007 I think Jan has made a good job....but I prefer the original even if you slightly cutted the wing..you have two birds anyway and the composition and their attitude is really dynamic, so why bother with a cutted wing....the image is real cool as is, no need for complex PS correction even if I enjoy and deeply respect Jan's proposal.... adan1 0 Posted September 26, 2007 It feels like a choreographed dance. Beautiful capture of movements and color contrasts. Link to comment
