alberta_pizzolato 21 Posted September 15, 2007 Re-shoot of a Canon AE-1 photo taken in Deauville, France 1986. Thanks for looking. Link to comment
pascalagneray 0 Posted September 16, 2007 Deauville. This is a place very close to where I grew up. You have a great picture here but it has a couple technical flaws, most notably sharpness. I don't care that the horizon is tilted, actually, I think it brings interest sometimes, an action feel. I think you can punch the colors a bit. I attached a version I would have made out of the original. Link to comment
alberta_pizzolato 21 Posted September 16, 2007 What a lucky man to have grown up in this gorgeous part of the world. And thank you for taking the time to do this variation. I feel honored that someone with your skills would do this. Normally, I would sharpen the focus (PS) but I really liked the dream-like quality that the dense fog provided. The fog was so thick that day we drove with the car door open to be able to see the roadside. So I left the image as shot - blur and soft blue tones - because that's the way it looked that day and the way I chose to remember it. Cheers - Link to comment

alberta_pizzolato 21 Posted September 23, 2007 Thank you for your lovely comment. The "eye" is there - it's the rest that needs development. I'll be checking your portfolio, too. You have some amazing images and from places I would love to visit. Cheers - Link to comment
muszkiet damian 0 Posted September 30, 2007 Hi once again! I love shipyards and specialy such developed sea-shores like that here catched on your picture. Imho first one is more natural, it's just much better that the second one. But in the other hand I agree with Pascal Agneray that a little hue punchin' would be interesting. All in all great place...I wish I could grew up in such place, really! Catch ya later 8-) Link to comment

godfather 0 Posted October 30, 2007 What a beautiful scene. The morning mist gives always very nice photos when they are taken in the right place, well this certainly is. IMO the mood of the photo is kind of sad but that is also the main thing why i like it so much. It is a little crooked but i think it works better this way. Very good capture. rgs Tero. alberta_pizzolato 21 Posted October 30, 2007 Thanks for your kind words. I can remember this day as though it were yesterday. We had driven from Paris to the Normandy coast in dense fog almost the whole way. We had to keep the rental car door open to see where the road ended! And then, when we arrived at Deauville, we saw this. It was breathtakingly beautiful. Shame I didn't take more photographs. I did learn, and haven't forgotten, the French word for fog: brouillard. pascalagneray 0 Posted October 30, 2007 I found someone who took pictures of another harbor close to Deauville. Here is the thread if you are interested. http://photo.net/photodb/folder?folder_id=748533 Link to comment

alberta_pizzolato 21 Posted December 8, 2007 Thank you for finding this one and for your kind words. It's a favorite of mine - the photo and the memories :) Cheers - Link to comment
timkeller 0 Posted December 9, 2007 I think it's the exceptionally strong composition that makes this photo so irresistible! Then the boats, birds, and fog. I'd sharpen the boats a little (not necessarily all the way) but I like your original colors much better than the alteration above. Good find, good capture, great mood. Link to comment
alberta_pizzolato 21 Posted December 9, 2007 Thanks for your comments. I've tried sharpening and just don't like the results. This is a scan of a film print. What I really need to do is get a decent scan. Next year. It's on my "To Do" list. Cheers - Link to comment
