presented as seen - first time I have seen the skies having this distinct separation between blue and yellow. Took a few of this scene but this is the only one to have a bird in it.

In my opinion, this shows that luck favors the prepared. Clearly, this type of scene doesn't happen along very often. You captured it with technical excellence. What it boils down to for me is: do I like it? I like the colors and dynamic range. For some reason, and ironically, the asymmetry of it strikes me as "unnatural". I think that's what's so interesting about this shot. It challenges the assumptions of "natural beauty".

..it was there and you captured it brilliantly. Well done...Bert (P.S. do you think it might have been possible to overexpose by maybe half a stop or so to see a little more detail of the land portion)

Thank you for your generous comment and rating. They are both appreciated.

Pointing your camera - especially digital ones - into the sun poses many challenges in terms of dynamic range. Blown highlights are a real risk and sometimes compromises have to be made. Even in this image there are some blown highlights and I had to decide what was important. In this case, I decided that what i wanted to preserve and highlight is the orange and blue separation in the sky. Over exposing would have increased the already blown highlight in the image. There are potential solutions: HDR and split density filters but they were not used in this case. Thanks again and best regards,

What an amazing capture of different colors, lights, reflections! The bird at the edge of the light adds even more make make it a delightful compostion. Sunset shots are always beautiful but this is exceptional photo.

Nicki: thanks for your nice comment.

Christal: thanks for the nice comment. Someone spotted this and asked me whether I would be interested in it being published. I was surprised and quickly said yes.
