Cool shot Gordon. Wish both noses would have been in focus...but still works for me. Love the light shinning thru the fence.J

I like the even composition here concerning the fence, the central focus on the K9(Darwin?)is nice as well.

I must say the little nose on the left detracts from the image for me, the image would look stronger with out it me thinks. That was my initial instinct, viewing this, although, it would be hard to PS it out considering the shadow that it casts.

Thanks for the comments. I deliberately used a very narrow dof on this one. Perhaps Shayne's suggestion would resolve this by cloning out Maggie's nose. Personally I like Maggie's nose in the image and also like the fact that one nose is focused and one is not. I wouldn't want Maggie to feel left out. Shayne, Maggie is always sticking her nose were it doesn't belong :-) Thanks to you both for your thoughts and suggestions, as an experiment I will remove the blurry nose and see how I feel about the image afterwards.

Prison inmates number 547654 and 547665 planning their big break. I always wonder what's on a dog's mind when they do the things they do. I like that Darwin's nose and left eye are plainly visible. For me, the eye brings in a sight factor ... Darwin isn't just sniffing the air, but actually checking to see if he guard is still on duty. ;-) I also like the blue-gray color to the edges of the boards. I'm not sure yet how I feel about Crazy Maggie's out of focus nose, but I'd like to see it removed to compare the two.

Gordon, absolutely completely wicked shot. The shallow DOF has worked really well to bring attention to the biggest nose, and as such I don't feel that Maggie's nose detracts from the image at all. It's almost like it's nudging in and saying "don't forget me!". Rather than trying to lose this nose, I'd be tempted to use a slightly wider DOF should the opportunity for this shot ever arise again. It should be possible for both noses to be pretty sharp and still throw the furthest slats enough. Or you could cheat - take picture with wide DOF and then PS some fuzziness into it!

Another great capture Gordon - definitely one for high ratings. But I said yesterday I wouldn't enter ratings or request ratings any more - it's very hard keeping to this! What should I do??

Yeah the jury is still out for me regarding Maggie's nose, I'll give it some more time and play about with the file.

I've been away much of the time over the past severals days so have lapsed my usual attentiveness. I'm going to assume you are referring to a comment made by yourself on one of the forums. I know I struggle with this rating issue myself. My biggest concern is in regards to trying to maintain some sort of objective point system so a 6/6 on your image would be for the same image quality as a 6/6 on someone else's photo next week. If you take it at all seriously it can become daunting. If someone consistently comments on my work but never leaves ratings, at this point in time, I am working with the assumption they could care less about rating and I don't leave any behind when I comment on their work.

Follow your heart Pete, from my end of things, I am thrilled that you and I seem to be helping each other out by reviewing each others work and leaving behind suggestions and thought. That in itself is more than I could hope for and if afterward you want to through some numbers at it,or not either way it's fine. Likewise let me know your preference and I'll oblige.

This is very nice Gordon. Well seen and nicely executed. When I saw the thumbnail, I couldn't tell what it was, but larger this becomes nicely framed composition. Thanks for sharing.

Superb this one Gordon, my only remark : I ask me if the second and blurred nose is not more distracting in place to add something. Nevertheless, a great shot !
