bosshogg 4 Posted September 12, 2007 What a beautiful image. The textures of the smooth water, the lake and the clouds and land combine to form a visually attractive whole. The tones are wonderful. Link to comment
lonebearimages 0 Posted September 12, 2007 First. what a sky! Second, this composition is really a perfect example of terrific use of the rule-of-thirds. Third, David said it right, this image is just loaded with fantastic tones. Leo, this is really a beautiful image. The reflections off the main lake and the small body of water have a silvery toning - is this something you achieved in PP? A 7/7 anonymously. Cheers! Chris Link to comment
jose morales 0 Posted September 12, 2007 What's out there? composition is great as it allows to explore the entire image. Love the contrast as it brings out the texture of the photos. Link to comment
leo burkey 0 Posted September 13, 2007 You've got a good eye and yes I just learn two new techniques and I used them both here. The first effect was a "High Pass Contrast" by John Paul Caponigro. In essence using the High Pass contrast you can target contrast to effect contours more than other image areas-to a lesser degree, texture and volume are also accentuated. The second effect was to select just the high lights ( hold down the following keys altogether ctrl-alt-shift and the tilde key (~)) and then copy and paste to a new layer. With just the highlights selected you can fine tune them with any adjustment layer; I used a curves layer to bring them up to that mirror like sheen. As I was saying Chris your eye is improving. I am a firm believer in studying the works of others. If anyone would like further information just ask. I also used the Ektalure cream tone along with a selenium to achieve the toning. leo burkey 0 Posted September 13, 2007 Nothing but water; the dark ares is where the water is shaded by the clouds! Thanks for your time and comments. Link to comment
gordonjb 10,860 Posted September 13, 2007 Wonderful tones and a generally dynamic feel created by all those hight lights glistening. Having spent pretty much my entire life on the shore of one of the Great Lakes or another this is a familiar sight, yet I've never seen this scene captured quite this way before. If I ever get up to speed with photo shop perhaps I can enlist you for some pointers. Link to comment
