Linda, this is a nice scene here. The sky looks a bit bright and bland, so good choice not to include much of it. I would keep working on compositional possibilities here. You might even consider putting on an old pair of shoes and getting in the water for a strong shot. If this creek is near you, you might also consider going near dawn or just after to shoot during really soft light. If there is early morning fog around, all the better. I would experiment with putting a rock a set of rocks in the immediate foreground that are arranged so as to draw the viewer into the scene and up the stream. In any event, good job on this one.

Daniel,

Thanks for taking the time to comment. I like your advice. I have mobility problems, am somewhat disabled, so slogging around in the creek isn't an option for me at this time in my life, although I would love to do it. I know what you mean about soft light. I would like to get out on a foggy morning, I love the effect. A little fog here would have been a nice touch. Unfortunatly, here in and around Kamloops we get nothing but day after day of sunshine ;) Maybe in later in the fall, or this winter. Thanks again.

Warm regards.

Daniel has some good ideas for future shots. Regarding this shot, though, I think it's a celebration of green. The colorful leaves and moss against the "straight-man" rocks and trunks is quite effective. I find my eye wandering from stone to stone as it moves through the shot. Lovely.

very nice photo Linda. I love the contrasts and the colors. I would have liked a bit more contrast in the foreground tree, to draw attention to its texture though. I like the patch of yellow flowers in the right background, it just captures my eye and brings it back to the picture. Very well done. Regards - michel

It's an interesting shot, Linda. I want to wade in and start turning over rocks in hopes of finding a nugget. Have to agree with Daniel about the sky, but even the tiny bits remaining kept distracting me. I thought the composition was well balanced, and cloning over the sky bits solved it (for me). The peripheral trees compliment the creek perfectly, without any extraneous distraction.

OK, I'm easily distracted.:)

Doug,

Thanks for doing that, I appreciate it. I see what you mean about the distraction. Without the sky your eye stays in the creek. The image also looks more mysterious and dramatic without the light of the sky. Good advice!
