Dennis, this is one of the best hummingbird shots I've seen! Great motion capture. I love these birds, they are the greatest.

 

Excellent color and sharpness, technical details are spot on.

 

Great background and crop.

 

My dad rescued one of these birds once. Quite friendly, as it was young, seemed to realize we were taking care of it... nicknamed it "hinge" as it sounded like a squeaky hinge.

I've pick a male up this year after it KO'd itself by running into the window... They do have a squeaky sound.

Nice, sharp shot, Dennis! We have a couple of hummers that stay all year long, but they aren't very bright (buff-bellied hummers).

Oh, Dennis! This is definitely your best hummer to date...I love the lighter bg and the overall comp. His wing and body position add a pleasing diagonal to the comp. You've gotten even more detail in those feathers than before...didn't think that would be possible! Jeremy, your dad just upped the bar...wayyyy up! :) I thought you might use a hummer for this week's theme! Glad to see you didn't disappoint us! :) I think you've got these little guys trained to pose for you...what are you paying them? Root beer instead of nectar?? hehe!

Les, no root beer, but not a bad idea. I finally figured out that if I take the perch off, they'll hover and give me time to focus....duh....

You've done something I didn't think was possible.....bet the other one. Nothing negative I can say to improve this one..Oh, there is a little orange on the bottom corner might as well just keep the green and get rid of it.
