JohnMWright 1 Posted September 8, 2007 Dennis, this is one of the best hummingbird shots I've seen! Great motion capture. I love these birds, they are the greatest. Excellent color and sharpness, technical details are spot on. Great background and crop. My dad rescued one of these birds once. Quite friendly, as it was young, seemed to realize we were taking care of it... nicknamed it "hinge" as it sounded like a squeaky hinge. Link to comment
dennis jones 0 Posted September 8, 2007 I've pick a male up this year after it KO'd itself by running into the window... They do have a squeaky sound. Link to comment
dennis jones 0 Posted September 9, 2007 gonna miss these guys...been a good summer... Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted September 9, 2007 Nice, sharp shot, Dennis! We have a couple of hummers that stay all year long, but they aren't very bright (buff-bellied hummers). Link to comment
lbattjes 0 Posted September 9, 2007 Oh, Dennis! This is definitely your best hummer to date...I love the lighter bg and the overall comp. His wing and body position add a pleasing diagonal to the comp. You've gotten even more detail in those feathers than before...didn't think that would be possible! Jeremy, your dad just upped the bar...wayyyy up! :) I thought you might use a hummer for this week's theme! Glad to see you didn't disappoint us! :) I think you've got these little guys trained to pose for you...what are you paying them? Root beer instead of nectar?? hehe! Link to comment
dennis jones 0 Posted September 9, 2007 Thanks for coming by...Les, no root beer, but not a bad idea. I finally figured out that if I take the perch off, they'll hover and give me time to focus....duh.... Link to comment
gerfoy3 0 Posted September 9, 2007 You've done something I didn't think was possible.....bet the other one. Nothing negative I can say to improve this one..Oh, there is a little orange on the bottom corner might as well just keep the green and get rid of it. AMAZING SHOT..Going to rate it... Ger.. lbattjes 0 Posted September 9, 2007 Good eye, Ger! I missed that bit of orange...think I'll have to drop my rate...what do ya think? I mean really, Dennis...you are getting so sloppy! hahahhaha! Link to comment
dennis jones 0 Posted September 9, 2007 actually, it's the natural light coming thru the feathers... Link to comment
jan_piller 0 Posted September 10, 2007 Bingo! This is it!! Beauty shot!! I agree - get rid of that tiny corner of arnge in the bottom right - maybe the feeder? Superb shot! 7/7 Link to comment
steve lamplugh 0 Posted September 10, 2007 Dennis, this is amazing!! I love the colours, focus, and frozen motion. Nicely handled. Link to comment
anthonyd 0 Posted September 10, 2007 That's one hell of a way to wrap up the summer! I know full well that you saved this shot until now so that neither Jeremy or I would stand a chance of getting anything close to it! You shal pay for this Gray Beard...oh, yes...you shal pay! Link to comment
drjoe2009 0 Posted September 10, 2007 Excellent capture. Love those males. Amazing red plumage captured magnificently. Thanks Dennis! Link to comment
