Guest Guest Posted September 11, 2007 Looked almost like several bloodied bodies (human or alien, I can't tell) arranged diagonally across the screen. The textures are skin-like and very interesting, indeed. Link to comment
LenMarriott 9 Posted September 11, 2007 Arthur, Thanks for stopping by. Now you know why it's called the Bad lands. :-(Best, LM. Link to comment
greg mccracken 13 Posted September 12, 2007 Great capture, Len! You really optimized the scene The hillocks look compressed as if with a telephoto lens. Also the colours are really nice from the Velvia. Link to comment
LenMarriott 9 Posted September 12, 2007 Greg, This was Velvia 100F. I'd like to see the same scene taken with 50 (new or old) and straight Velvia 100. Also, if I were to retake this I'd loosen up the composition a bit on the right. The tree's close proximity to the frame edge creates a bit of tension there & that's why I was so long posting this one. It almost didn't make it but I thought the shapes & textures of the mounds were important enough to slide this one in. Regarding the 'compression', I may have used my 100mm lens instead of the 50 I indicated in the Technical Details. Good eye! Thanks for your thoughts. Best, LM. Link to comment
henrimanguy 0 Posted September 13, 2007 Very strong composition. I hope you have made a series on this subject. Link to comment
LenMarriott 9 Posted September 14, 2007 Henri, If you check out my 2006 folder you'll find 3 other shots from the same location. Hope they satisfy your thirst for more images. Thanks for inquiring. Best, LM. Link to comment
alecee 0 Posted September 29, 2007 Looks like painted canvas on an uneven ground. Very unique and well captured. The warm light makes this special. Link to comment
LenMarriott 9 Posted September 29, 2007 Alec, This is one subject that really benefits from direct but low sunlight. Can't imagine a very dramatic shot of this subject taken with overcast or even mid day sun. Thanks for taking the time. Your visits are much appreciated. Best, LM. Link to comment

aepelbacher 0 Posted October 14, 2007 Len - is this very far from Toronto? I didn't know any such geography existed in Southern Ontario! It really is beautiful ... the color and the lines ... it's a great shot! I might just need to go up there the next time I'm in WNY and check it out. Regards! Link to comment
LenMarriott 9 Posted October 14, 2007 Lou Ann, Rare landscape indeed. A few miles NW of Toronto & a bit SW of Orangeville, On. Good for a couple of hours shooting to get some interesting results. Be sure to get there 1st AM or, as in this case, in the final 2 hrs of a sunlit day. (my preferrence since I don't do 1st AM's very enthusiastically) :-) Google for more info. Parking lot (small-4 or 5 cars) right on the edge of this property. No time wasted to get from car to subject. This one was taken about 50 ft. from my car. Thanks for taking the time. Best, LM.
